Goats of War 2023

November 11th, fellow Belgian club Meyer May Rise organized the “Goats of War” longsword tournament. As many international clubs made their way towards the Walloon town of Fallais, we couldn't miss out on this exciting event either!'

This event also marked the first official tournament for two of our members, Jonathan Cox and Frederick Everars. Together with one of our trainers, Jem Burke, they had some great results. Frederick almost got through the pool round, Jonathan made it to the 16th finals and Jem made it all the way to the top claiming an impressive 2nd place spot and thus a spot on the podium for Invirtus!

We had a great time, made new friends and learned many things! We are already looking forward to Goats of War 2024!

Invirtus Sparring Day

On Saturday December 11 2021, we had an in-promptu club sparring day / tournament. The "Belgian Beginners Competition", which was set to take place on this day, was sadly cancelled due to COVID measures. Instead, one of our enterprising members rented a sportshall (we normally train outside) and organized an exciting tournament!

The goal of the tournament was first and foremost to make sure everyone had fun and was able to have as many fights as possible. Members were split into two groups in which everyone would fight everyone else. In the end, there wasn't even time for proper finals (we still haven't held them...), but that was ok, as everyone had a good time and learned a lot!

Definitely something to repeat in the future!

Invirtus Club Weekend

In October 2021 we were once again able to organize our annual Club Weekend. These are three days we spend fencing, training, and teaching each other workshops, but also socializing, playing board games and generally having a good time! This year we again gathered at the Bloso Sportsdomain in Hofstade, which is an excellent and quite cheap location with good food and comfortable bunk beds!

We had a packed agenda, with workshops on dagger/wrestling and armoured fencing, as well as a full-blown club tournament! In the finals, Tim "Who's your daddy" Ciroux faced of against Joris "Tiny House" Vanbinnenbeek, who was able to take the gold in an exciting match. As a team building exercise, we invited over an event organiser to do some Scottish highland games. Many things were thrown and carried impressive distances! As a special treat, trainer Jem performed his impressive firestaff show!
